Arthur Gorson has established a prestigious career in photography, music and film. His classic photographs of Bob Marley provide the album cover for “Talking Blues,” as well as art for subsequent deluxe CD/Album editions of Marley albums including “Catch a Fire” and “Burnin”. This intimate series of photographs were taken in various Kingston, Jamaica, locations – including Trenchtown – while on assignment for the ground breaking article “The Wild Side of Paradise.” During a one month period Gorson spent privileged time with the Reggae great, just prior to his departure from Jamaica to promote his newly released album “Catch a Fire,” and as Bob Marley was about to change the world forever.

Gorson’s Marley photographs have been published in “Rolling Stone Magazine”, as well as books such as: “Songs of Freedom” by Adrian Boot and Chris Salewicz; and Taschen Books “Music Icons” series. His work was included in the landmark gallery show (5 photographers) “Songs of Freedom ” which opened at the Galerie Mari Hubé, and travelled to 6 world capitals. His photographs were featured in the authorized documentary film “Marley” directed by Kevin Macdonald (“Last King of Scotland”).

As a filmmaker, Mr. Gorson has worked with some of the world’s most acclaimed directors. He developed feature films with Tony Scott and Taylor Hackford. His feature film credits as a producer include: “Cronos” by Guellermo Del Toro; “Better Watch Out” and “Road to Nowhere” by Monte Hellman; “Cabeza de Vaca” by Nicolas Echevarria; “Night Watch” by Timur Bekmambetov; and Perry Henzell’s recently completed feature “No Place Like Home.” With Wayne Jobson, he produced the documentary film “The Roots of Reggae”. His most recent film: “A Filmmakers Odyssey”, about legendry Jamaican filmmaker Perry Henzell (produced and directed by Gorson and David Garonzik), had its U.S. premiere February 2016 at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

Mr. Gorson has produced major music videos and concert DVDs, for artists such as: Damian and Stephan Marley, Lisa Marie Presley, AR Rahman, Evanesence, The Dave Matthews Band, Willie Nelson, Stevie Nicks, Iron Maiden, Billy Talent, Velvet Revolver, Marilyn Manson, Shooter Jennings, Tommy Lee, Dr. Dre, and Cypress Hill. He has produced over 50 broadcast commercials for clients including: Starbucks 2016, California Lottery, LG Phones, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Veet, Bank Imperial, Trident Gum and Mazda Automobiles.

His work has received international recognition, including: Cannes Film Festival “Semaine de la Critique” (gold); 2015 Telly Award; MuchMusic Awards (Canada); Saturn Award; VMA/MTV Awards; MVPA Awards; MTV Europe; and the Kodak Award. A voting member of NARAS (Grammy), Mr. Gorson is the recipient of multiple RIAA gold and platinum records.
