Born in Michigan, christened by Chicago blues, James Newell Osterberg, Jr., Iggy of The Iguanas… Iggy. Pop. of the Stooges.
Before Iggy Pop (B.I.P.), music was inspiring, religious, worthy of adoration. After Iggy Pop (A.I.G.), music rocked, rolled, came right up and punched your face. Iggy broke the third wall, reached out and grabbed you by the balls. He was and still is, the true essence of both rock and punk. Bowie and Lou Reed knew it. The world hopefully now recognizes it. Iggy doesn’t tolerate wallflowers. If you’re in the room, you’d better get up and you’d better be ready to ROCK.
